To life, dance & food always add wild abandon
Please note that Kitchen Wands is located in British Columbia, Canada and all prices are posted in Canadian dollars.
This Kitchen Wand is based on a Harriet van Horne quote “Cooking is like love — it should be entered into with abandon or not at all” with a nod to Yoda, `Do. Or do not, there is no try`.
Abandon is something I personally connect to music and dance. While on a trip to Findhorn, Scotland, almost three decades ago I was introduced to sacred circle dancing. The dances are rooted in simple steps that repeat and repeat. The stories experienced while dancing are about the wheel of the year, greeting the morning sun, harvesting, sharing gratitude and other themes that connect us to the cycles of the earth.
Being in the moment, adding a new ingredient, following your intuition, creating something wildly deliciously and uniquely yours, even if you find a similar recipe on Google the next day, is still about creativity and connection to an inner source, so dance!
Each individually handcrafted 13 inch beech wood spoon comes via a protected, managed forest in Europe. Once in Canada, they are charmed with a laser engraver and dipped in a bath of grape seed oil and melted beeswax which brings out the grain and deepens the tone of the wood. Washing in warm water, by hand, and the occasional wipe with a food safe oil will help extend the life of a Kitchen Wand. The image is burned into the wood and will not “come off”. Over time though, as the patina of use develops, the image and the engraving on the handle “My Kitchen Wand” may soften.
The description of this design is easily accessible to customers through an information only webpage on the Kitchen Wand tag.
